Prevalence of Sarcopenia and the Impact of Genetic Factors
“Prevalence of Sarcopenia and the Impact of Genetic Factors” is Research Grant with duration of 18 months, starting from February 2018. The main aims and objective of this project are: to adapt and validate proper measurement methods for the determination of sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss and function) in Kosovo.

On the dates 7th and 8th of May in the University of Vienna in Austria was held the final meeting of the HERAS project entitled “Socioeconomic, lifestyle and genetic factors related to the age-related loss of muscle mass and function (sarcopenia) in Kosovan men and women aged 60 years and above”. In this meeting took part all the project partners , with the University of Vienna being represented by Assoc.-Prof. DI Dr. Barbara Wessner and Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Harald Tschan, University of Tetovës by Prof Dr Metin Dalip and Prof Dr Shpresa Memishi, and the Universitety of Gjakova “Fehmi Agani” by Ass Arben Boshnjaku MSc.
Arben Boshnjaku as the local team leader presented the achievements and findings from the completed studies, whereas it was also discussed for the possibilities to continue performing similar studies in the future.
