The 4th annual meeting of the Balkan Universities Association (BUA) was held, where the UGJFA is a member
On 30 and 31 March, the regular annual meeting of the Balkan Universities Association (BUA) was held. This fourth meeting was held at the State University of Tetovo as the leader of the Association's Presidency for the academic year 2017/18.
The University of Gjakova is a member of the association since its founding and this year was represented by Rector Prof. Dr. Shaban Buza, and Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Januz Bunjaku and Prof. Ass. Dr. Mimoza Dushi.
On the first day, a conference titled "Collaboration between universities and cultural cohabitation - a premise for a sustainable platform across the Balkans" was held where scholars before the academic community presented their views and debated on the problems of cultural cohabitation in these areas.
Subsequently, on the second day, the meeting between the 40 rectors of the Balkan Universities discussed the quality of the accreditation process, inter-university cooperation and the draft-Statute of the Association of Balkan Universities was reviewed and approved. Also, applications and approved memberships of new universities have been reviewed, which have expressed interest in joining this association. At the meeting, there were also reviewed and approved with majority of votes the applications from the institutions of higher education such as: University of Tirana, Korça University, Haxhi Zeka University - Peja, University of Health Sciences - Istanbul, University of Bihac, University of Shkodra and University of Novi Sad.
At the end of this meeting was also handed over the Presidency of the Association of Balkan Universities. Following the University of Tetovo with the presidency of this Association during the academic year 2018/19 will run the University "Aristotle" from Thessaloniki. On this occasion the Rector of the University of Tetova, Prof. dr. Dr. Vullnet Ameti, handed over the presidency to the Rector of the University "Aristotle", Prof. Dr. Pericles A. Mitka.
