The book is published on the occasion of the 91st anniversary of the assassination of the patriot, researcher, archaeologist, ethnologist and many other fields, Father Shtjefën Gjeçovi

Today (October 12, 2020) the book of the professor of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Gjakova, Prof.Assoc.Dr. Besim Muhadri "Shtjefën Gjeçovi and the Kanun of Lekë Dukagjini".

The publication of this book by Professor Muhadri comes after a long research and study work on the life and work of Shtjefën Gjeçovi. In this case, the author focuses on Gjeçovi's masterpiece “The Kanun of Lekë Dukagjini”, which saw the light of publication four years after the assassination of its author by the occupying Serbian and Yugoslav regime, on October 14, 1929, in Zym of Has.

Professor Besim Muhadri in his latest book, sheds light on the murder of Gjeçovi, the reaction of the Albanian state in relation to this murder and the echo of the press of that time that made that cruel murder of an intellectual and high-profile patriot, such as Gjeçovi.

In the second part of his study book, Professor Besim Muhadri focuses on the Kanun of Lekë Dukagjini, namely the importance of this monumental work of our customary law, collected and codified by Father Shtjefën Gjeçovi. The author has highlighted the reaction of scholars, both foreign and Albanian, regarding the Kanun of Lekë Dukagjini, a work which has so far been translated into dozens of foreign languages. The interest in this monumental work of the Albanian people continues to this day and has even reached America and distant Japan.

The work "Shtjefën Gjeçovi and the Kanun of Lekë Dukagjini" by prof. Aso.dr.Besim Muhadrit, is another contribution of this scholar, which, with the greatest certainty, will arouse interest in many scholars of the work of Gjeçovi and the Kanun of Lekë Dukagjini.
