The First Meeting of the Senate of the University ‘’Fehmi Agani’’ in Gjakova

The First Meeting of the Senate of the University ‘’Fehmi Agani’’ in Gjakova

According to the articles and the Statute of the University ‘’Fehmi Agani’’ in Gjakova, on 19th of October, 2023, was held the first meeting of the new Senate.

The Rector, Prof. Ass. Dr. Drilon Bunjaku opened the meeting by congratulating all the deans and senators in the new positions, believing firmly that together they will be able to contribute, through discussions and arguments, to achieve the best possible outcome for the University and the students.

Rector Bunjaku, in front of the members of the Senate proposed the order of the day as follows:

1. The approval of the minutes from the last meeting;

2. The approval of the decisions of the recension commissions for Part-time Professors/Assistants

3. The approval of the proposals of academic unit councils;

4. Requests and complaints directed to the Senate of the University ‘’Fehmi Agani’’;

5. Relevant.

All the appointments for the day were discussed by the members of the Senate, and a major number of them were approved. The first appointment was not voted due to a verification that was being made in the last meeting’s minute.

A huge number of the recensions for part-time Professors/Assistants have been approved, while a part of them have gone in a second declaration procedure, because they did not meet the criteria and did not respect the procedure.

The proposals of the academic units regarding the programs which will be accredited and reaccredited were approved.

With the inquiry of the students’ parliament: students are able to submit two exams in the October’s term (this is not obligatory to meet the condition). The number of credits to pass in the second year has decreased to 10% because many students fail to meet this criterion. This support from the senators has been made with the condition that such requests never be made in the future, and in order to start increasing the benchmark in the upcoming years, so that we respect the Senate.

After a long and dynamic meeting, Rector Bunjaku thanked the members for their participation and the contribution they are offering for the best of the University.

The marathon meeting began at 13.30 and ended at 19.30.
