The “Fehmi Agani” University in Gjakova (UFAGJ) today held the solemn ceremony marking the opening of the new academic year 2026–2027, welcoming first-year students and wishing all students a successful academic year.

The ceremony was opened by the student representative, Elda Gacaferri, who welcomed the new students and wished them success in their academic journey.

In his welcoming speech, the Rector of the University, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Drilon Bunjaku, emphasized the importance of this day for students and the entire academic community.

“Being part of our university is not only an individual achievement, but also a responsibility. You are now part of an academic tradition that grows every year, preparing professionals who contribute not only to personal development, but also to the development of our country,” said the Rector.

He recalled the figure of the academic and prominent educator Prof. Fehmi Agani, in whose honor the University bears its name, describing him as a moral and professional guiding figure for younger generations, who view knowledge and courage as the foundations of freedom and development.

The Rector then introduced the members of the University management: Prof. Dr. Sindorela Doli Kryeziu, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Behxhet Gaxhiqi, Vice-Rector for Academic Development and Quality Enhancement. He also introduced the deans of the academic units: Prof. Dr. Haxhi Kamberi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Dr. Labinot Berisha, Dean of the Faculty of Philology; Prof. Assoc. Dr. Ferdi Kamberi, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Prof. Dr. Ilmi Hoxha, Dean of the Faculty of Education; and Prof. Assoc. Dr. Agon Kokaj, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

“Studies require dedication, perseverance, and passion. Our country needs your professionalism, creativity, and ideas. Take advantage of every opportunity the University offers, because your years of study are the most valuable period for building your future,” was the Rector’s closing message.

The ceremony took place in a festive atmosphere, during which students were provided with informational leaflets containing general information and important details about the new academic year. They also had the opportunity to get to know one another and engage in conversations with University staff.
