The “Fehmi Agani” University in Gjakova (UFAGJ) welcomed the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Kosovo, H.E. Mr. Petrit Malaj, on an official visit.

Ambassador Malaj was received by the Rector of UFAGJ, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Drilon Bunjaku, together with Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Sindorela Doli, Vice-Rector Prof. Assoc. Dr. Petrit Duraj, and Acting Secretary General, Ms. Nita Pruthi.

Rector Bunjaku welcomed Ambassador Malaj to the “Fehmi Agani” University in Gjakova and briefed him on the latest developments at the University, institutional priorities, study programmes, and the objectives for further academic and institutional development.

As part of the meeting, Rector Bunjaku also introduced the students from the Republic of Albania—Arnis Kuçana, Kledjon Memia, Fatlin Memia, and Robert Metaliaj—who are studying in the Engineering Informatics programme at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, highlighting UFAGJ’s longstanding connection with students from northern Albania and the Gjakova Highlands. Currently, students from these areas account for 13% of the total number of students enrolled in this programme.

The discussion focused on the longstanding contribution of Gjakova’s institutions to the residents of these areas. In this context, particular emphasis was placed on the contribution of Gjakova Regional Hospital in providing healthcare services to residents of Tropojë and Has, as well as the continued contribution of the “Fehmi Agani” University in educating students from these northern Albanian regions over the years.

An important part of the discussion focused on deepening cooperation between UFAGJ and higher education institutions in the Republic of Albania, strengthening the role of universities in the development of the Dukagjini Plain region, and developing and offering study programmes that respond to labour market needs and contemporary social, economic, and technological developments.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Kosovo, H.E. Mr. Petrit Malaj, expressed his readiness to support the “Fehmi Agani” University in Gjakova in advancing cooperation with universities in the Republic of Albania, with particular emphasis on the integration and cooperation of academic programmes in the field of health sciences.

The parties agreed on the importance of further advancing institutional cooperation, establishing new bridges of academic collaboration, and developing joint initiatives that will contribute to the education of young people, regional development, and the strengthening of ties between Kosovo and Albania.
