Faculty of Social Sciences Joins the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW)
The Faculty of Social Sciences at University “Fehmi Agani” in Gjakova has become a member of the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW). This achievement is the result of close cooperation between the academic staff and the management and steering council of UFAGJ. The membership is valid for one (1) year, with the possibility of renewal, and holds particular significance not only for the field of social work, but also for enhancing Kosovo's presence in international academic and professional networks.
The IASSW aims to promote excellence in social work education, research, and practice on a global scale, with the overarching goal of advancing social justice, human rights, and human well-being. The Association fosters a dynamic community of social work educators and programs, supporting mutual exchange of information and expertise. It also represents social work education at the international level, including at the United Nations.
Through this membership, the Faculty of Social Sciences gains numerous benefits, including: the right to participate in the governance of the Association through elections and the General Assembly; enhanced cultural diplomacy for Kosovo in the fields of science and social work; increased cooperation with peer institutions and organizations focused on social work; improved quality of teaching and academic development for staff and students; opportunities for study visits and knowledge exchange; eligibility to apply for IASSW-funded projects aimed at improving social work education, such as through Regional Resource Centers; access to a global network of social work educators via conferences, seminars, exchanges, and mailing lists; participation in nominations for prestigious recognitions such as the 'Katherine Kendall Award'; free access to the IASSW website, the online Social Dialogue journal, and various other professional resources.
Additionally, this membership represents the fulfillment of a key recommendation from the Kosovo Accreditation Agency for the Faculty of Social Sciences and its “Social Care and Welfare” program.
