UFAGJ Strengthens Digital Capacities through the KREN Platform and the SHER Project

Gjakova – On April 22, 2025, at the Rectorate of the UFAGJ, a workshop was held on building the capacities of academic and administrative staff to use the services offered by the Kosovo Research and Education Network (KREN), supported by the Sustainable Higher Education and Research in Kosovo (SHER) project, an initiative funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation and supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of Kosovo. The purpose of this workshop was to inform participants about the services and infrastructure of KREN, as well as to emphasize the importance of integrating digital services in teaching, scientific research and administration.

Welcoming you, the Rector Prof. Ass. Dr. Drilon Bunjaku emphasized the importance of digitalizing services at UFAGJ and strengthening the capacities of academic and administrative staff in their daily work. Meanwhile, the SHER project leader, Mr. Aqim Emurli, emphasized that UFAGJ has been selected as a pilot project for the use of KREN services, emphasizing the need to achieve the objectives of this initiative so that it can be expanded to other higher education institutions in Kosova.

In the first session of employment, being informed by Mr. Albert Aliu - expert of the SHER program, on the service and activity of KREN, focusing on important digital tools and their important integration in teaching, scientific research and administration. The second session focused on strategies and needs for digitalization, as well as the status of UFAGJ and the challenges in adopting cloud-based tools and other shared tools. The third session focused on demonstrating the practices of platforms such as MS Entra, MS Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc. The workshop concluded with questions from the participants  and discussion on further steps of the training sessions.

The Kosovo Research and Education Network (KREN) has been in started since 2019, through the Kosovo Digital Economy (KODE) project, supported by the International Development Association (IDA) and implemented by the Ministry of Economy (MOE). All of KREN's activities, investments and infrastructure are dedicated to the needs of higher education institutions (HEI), both in the public and private sphere.
