Minister Nagavci visited the "Fehmi Agani" University in Gjakova

On Friday, 19 April 2024, Minister Arbërie Nagavci visited the University “Fehmi Agani” in Gjakova, where she was welcomed by the University Management and the Steering Council (SC).

Initially, Rector Bunjaku welcomed Minister Nagavci to the University “Fehmi Agani” in Gjakova. Afterwards, the Chairwoman of the Steering Council, Ms. Majlinda Haxhikadrija-Ramadani, opened the meeting by emphasizing that the Steering Council of UFAGJ expresses its deep gratitude and respect for the visit of the Minister of Education, Ms. Arbërie Nagavci. She highlighted that the Minister’s engagement in discussions regarding challenges and opportunities in the field of education, as well as her comprehensive knowledge of developments in education, strongly contributes to improving quality and advancing the mission and goals of the University.

On behalf of the Management, Academic and Administrative Staff, and students, Rector Bunjaku thanked the Minister for her visit to UFAGJ. He added that the Minister’s presence at UFAGJ serves as motivation and encouragement for everyone to continue contributing toward fulfilling their duties and responsibilities, which lead to the realization of the University’s mission and vision.

Rector Bunjaku further stated that the University is working intensively to improve quality in teaching, research, and scientific work, as well as to offer study programs that are closely linked to labor market demands. Furthermore, the Rector informed the Minister about several achievements, such as the advancement of UFAGJ in international university rankings and the increase in high-impact scientific publications, made possible through the increased science fund and financial support for academic staff in scientific publishing. Regarding transparency, it was discussed that the Senate had voluntarily decided to livestream Senate meetings, among other initiatives.

In addition to the achievements, the Rector also informed the Minister about the challenges currently faced by UFAGJ, one of the main challenges continuing to be the lack of a university campus.

Minister Nagavci expressed full support for fulfilling any request related to raising the standards and performance of the University, both financially and in terms of important processes aimed at the University’s further development. The Minister also emphasized that the Ministry’s support will focus not only on improving physical infrastructure, but also on enhancing academic and research quality, as well as strengthening connections with the labor market.

After the meeting, together with the management, the Steering Council, and officials from the Ministry of Education, the Minister visited the laboratories of the Faculty of Medicine to closely observe the potential of the University “Fehmi Agani” in Gjakova in this regard. Minister Nagavci’s visit was highly appreciated by the students and representatives of UFAGJ.
