Invitation to participate in the Conference on the occasion of EU Anti-Trafficking Day
Trafficking in human beings is one of the most lucrative crimes worldwide. The Austrian Task Force on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings is organizing this conference on the occasion of EU Anti-Trafficking Day in cooperation with the Vienna Institute for Dialogue and International Cooperation (VIDC), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the OSCE, and this year for the first time, the Principality of Liechtenstein, free of charge.
Participants are required to complete the registration form by the 11th of October, 2021 and register for the plenary session on the afternoon of the 13th of October, as well as for one of the four workshops on the morning of the 14th of October. Therefore, online registration is required.
The focus of this year's conference, which marks EU Anti-Trafficking Day, is entitled "Follow the Money: Financial Aspects of Combating Trafficking in Human Beings". Held practically as well as in person at the Vienna School of International Studies, the aim of the conference is to illuminate the hidden avenues of money in this billion-dollar business. How do you identify dubious assets? How do we make sure the money really reaches those affected? What is the impact of lost wage payments and social security benefits on the livelihoods of those affected? The conference will be organized in a panel discussion and four workshops, these and other questions will be discussed. The conference includes government institutions, international organizations, NGOs, as well as representatives from the private sector.
